Hallmark is well-known for its feel-good movies but also for bringing lovebirds together. Some of those famous couples include Alexa and Carlos PenaVega, Chris McNally and Julie Gonzalo, and Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry (via US Weekly). While the first two couples have already welcomed babies, Wallace and McGarry aren’t at that stage yet, but their relationship seems to be going strong.
According to Heavy, dating rumors between the two Hallmark stars began in November 2020 when McGarry posted a photo on social media of some polaroids showing them together off-set. It didn’t take long for the duo to go public, and since then, they’ve both been very open about their relationship. The pair isn’t shy about showing their love online. In an Instagram video from February 2022, McGarry surprised Wallace with kisses while she sang to her followers, and they’ve also shared photos from vacation and birthday celebrations. So, how did this couple come to be?
Wallace and McGarry met on the set of this show
In 2019, Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace joined Hallmark’s drama series “When Calls the Heart” as Nathan Grant and Fiona Miller. Though Erin Krakow plays McGarry’s love interest on the show, and he doesn’t have many scenes with Wallace, that didn’t stop him from getting close to the Canadian actress. According to US Weekly, the two hit it off while on the set of the drama series.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the couple opened up about how they felt when they first met. “Do you remember the first time you ever felt butterflies?” Wallace asked McGarry. “It was with you,” he responded, “Only time.” Though Wallace was in disbelief at McGarry’s confession, she revealed that her first time feeling butterflies occurred when she was just seven years old. Following their romance confirmation, the adorable pair has starred in Hallmark’s “Feeling Butterflies” and “My Grown-Up Christmas List” together and play lovers in both.
Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace like working together
In an interview with TV Fanatic, Wallace shared what it feels like to work with her real-life partner Kevin McGarry. “It’s nice to work so closely with somebody that I know so well and see that the way Kevin works more in detail than just running lines together for auditions or doing the few scenes that we have on ‘When Calls the Heart,’” Wallace said. “It was really fun to spend not just one whole movie working together, but two movies working together, where we get to dive into some different characters and play out these storylines.”
Both Wallace and McGarry have also opened up about the different characters they have played in the productions they have done together. “Fiona in ‘When Calls the Heart’ and Emily in ‘Feeling Butterflies’ — they are both really similar in that they are career go-getters, they are boss ladies running their own thing,” Wallace said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “[I relate more to] Emily. I don’t do well in confrontation. I think that’s what it comes down to.” McGarry was asked the same question about his characters Nathan and Garrett, to which he responded, “I don’t have the money that Garrett has, unfortunately… I don’t think I’m like Nathan. He is a bit more stern.” Fortunately, it doesn’t look like Wallace and McGarry’s off-screen love affair will be wrapping up anytime soon.
