The Bold And The Beautiful’s Forgotten Lovers: Wyatt And Katie

No show on daytime television does forbidden romance better than “The Bold and the Beautiful.” For example, original cast member Katherine Kelly Lang’s Brooke Logan had an affair with her daughter’s husband, resulting in a child. More recently, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) has been romantically involved with murderer Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), despite her being presumed dead after she pretended to be mauled by a bear (via Soaps In Depth).
While Wyatt Spencer’s (Darin Brooks) and Katie Logan’s (Heather Tom) former relationship is nowhere near those levels of taboo, it still borders on inappropriate. Prior to Wyatt and Katie becoming involved, she was not only married to his father Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) but also birthed Wyatt’s younger brother, Will Spencer. Lately, per Soaps, Katie has been entertaining advances from Forrester Creations COO, Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor). Wyatt, meanwhile, is technically engaged to Flo Logan (Katrina Bowden), even though she’s nowhere to be found (via Soap Central). However, on the path to those relationships, they made a pit stop in the past, to be there for each other in the most intimate of ways. Despite the quasi-family connection, Wyatt and Katie had their own full-on love story, often overlooked or forgotten by not only the viewers but also the characters on the show themselves.

Considering Katie Logan was previously married to Wyatt Spencer’s father, they were always in each other’s orbit although, obviously, Bill and Katie were long broken up. However, their connection didn’t begin until both were employed at Forrester Creations, working on an international fashion show together. Working side by side, professionally, they clicked, and the result was magical. The Monte Carlo show was a resounding success, and the surge of elated emotions caused the pair to cross the line for the first time.
After seeing the success of their efforts, Wyatt and Katie gave in to a moment of passion, sharing a kiss in the aftermath of the fashion show. Right away, they knew this wasn’t something that could continue because of their previous connection. Katie was Wyatt’s former stepmother, not to mention his little brother’s mom, and the optics of the entire debacle were less than tasteful, at least on the surface (via Soap Opera Spy). Katie rejected all of Wyatt’s subsequent advances because she couldn’t see a future between them because of Bill. She even went as far as attempting to set Wyatt up with someone else in the hopes that he’d move on from her. However, not only did Wyatt not move on, but things heated up quite a lot between him and Katie, and suddenly their kiss seemed tame compared to the levels of intimacy they reached next (via Soaps In Depth).

Once Wyatt Spencer and Katie Logan took things to the next level, there was no turning back. Any concern they may have had about crossing boundaries was erased when they slipped in between the sheets. The allure of sneaking around and sleeping together in secret was enough to satisfy their cravings for one another in the beginning. However, they were nearly caught several times, even once by Bill Spencer himself. Despite this, the fledgling couple was able to continue hiding their romance from inquisitive eyes (via Soaps In Depth).
The first family member to catch the two of them in the act was patriarch Eric Forrester (John McCook), with Wyatt’s mother Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) rumbling him and Katie soon after (via Soaps.com). The problem with the blossoming relationship was that they initially agreed on a “no strings attached” approach, which gave them clearance to become involved with other people, in theory. After briefly breaking up because of jealousy issues and an attempt to protect Wyatt’s job at the family company, the couple made the difficult decision to take their relationship public, effectively throwing themselves into the lion’s den. Quinn and Bill were the biggest hurdles that stood in their way. To make matters worse, not only were they in a relationship but, soon after, Wyatt and Katie became engaged (via Soap Hub).

At first, Quinn Fuller was vehemently against the idea of her son, Wyatt Spencer, marrying Katie Logan. However, following some stern coaxing from her husband, Eric Forrester, she eventually came around to the idea, simply wanting happiness for Wyatt’s future (via Soap Central). However, the biggest force standing in their way was Bill Spencer. Once he learned about their relationship, he took it as a huge betrayal. Of course, Bill was a hypocrite in many ways because of his affair with his son, Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) wife, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
Bill upped the ante to drive Wyatt and Katie apart, offering Wyatt a top-tier position at Spencer Publications in exchange for ending their engagement. Wyatt took the deal, but he and Katie continued secretly hooking up. Despite this, their relationship still found its way to Splitsville. After learning about Steffy and Bill’s affair, Wyatt became conflicted, confiding in Katie about how to proceed (via Soaps In Depth). Despite Katie’s encouragement to withhold the truth from Liam to ensure his relationship with Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) wasn’t ruined, Wyatt ultimately told his brother. Katie knew it was the right decision, but it still hurt her to know her niece was in pain. However, with yet another problem in their path, she and Wyatt ultimately concluded they had no future together, ending their relationship and going their separate ways (via Soaps.com).
