Since his debut album “Blue Neighbourhood” was released in 2015, Troye Sivan has undergone a stunning style transformation. Sivan has been open about his sexuality in recent years, and his confidence has definitely translated through to his looks.
One of his most iconic outfits to date is the beautiful, electric blue silk ensemble he wore to the 28th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards in 2020 (via Harper’s BAZAAR). The outfit, designed by Sies Marjan, was full of texture and draped across his body perfectly. Sivan served another bold look at the 2021 VMAs when he wore a black Fendi suit made up of shorts and an extra cropped blazer with knee-high socks and loafers (via GQ). Whether donning simple and oversized silhouettes or eye-catching prints, the pop star knows how to make a style statement. Nevertheless, there is one look the singer wore that is a cut above the rest, and we’ve got all the details.

Stepping out at the 2021 Met Gala, Troye Sivan looked stunning in a sleek and sexy black gown. The dress, made by French designer Joseph Altuzarra, featured a gorgeous figure-hugging silhouette and cutouts in the center to showcase Sivan’s lithe figure, per Grazia. As reported by GQ, the gown came from Altuzarra’s unisex collection Altu, which at the time had not yet been launched.
Sivan paired the dress with contrasting edgy platform boots and a leather buckle strap around his upper arm. As for accessories, the “Bloom” singer wore a beautiful Cartier diamond necklace in sparkling silver. His short hair was kept simple with blond highlights and his natural curls, as was his makeup. The theme for the 2021 Met Gala was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” (via Vogue). On the red carpet, Sivan revealed the inspiration behind his look. He said, “When I think of America, especially New York, I think of chic, I think of black and white, I think of Robert Mapplethorpe, and I think of leather. Leather is so American” (via Grazia).

Troye Sivan had a pretty cheeky secret about his 2021 Met Gala outfit, too. As revealed by PRIDE, when Sivan changed into his second outfit for the night, a white dress in a similar cut, he was wearing a jockstrap beneath. The singer posted the look on his Instagram in a series of moody and sexy photos, in which he poses shirtless, wearing only the jockstrap, and shows it on the floor in another. He also shared a tongue-in-cheek photo of himself at a bathroom urinal with his black dress hitched up, captioning the pic, “[Rihanna] told [Tom Daley] to take this pic of me weeing.” That’s definitely a way to remember the night.
The Joseph Altuzarra black gown wasn’t Sivan’s only Met Gala look, though. In 2018, he slayed his very first Met appearance in a red Valentino suit that was spot on the theme of “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” (via Vogue). Underneath the suit was a matching red top made entirely of mesh, proving once again that Sivan has never been afraid to take a fashion risk or two (via Out Magazine).
