Longtime “Days of Our Lives” viewers know that there are some couples meant to be together for what feels like forever — like Bo and Hope Brady, Kayla Brady and Steve Johnson, Mickey and Maggie Horton, and John Black and Marlena Evans. However, other relationships are more fleeting. Whether they got started on the wrong foot or someone does something unforgivable, they don’t last.

“Days” fans have certainly seen their fair share of short-lived marriages over the years (via Fame 10). For example, Sami Brady has had several of her own, including quick unions with Lucas Horton and Brandon Walker. Jack Deveraux married Eve Donovan twice before quickly ending the relationship and also dissolved his marriage to Kayla Brady shortly after walking down the aisle. Also on the list of shortest Salem marriages are Vivian Alamain and Victor Kiriakis, Jennifer Horton and Lawrence Alamain, and Gabi Hernandez and Nick Fallon. Though Chloe Lane and Brady Black were each other’s first spouses, they haven’t been able to go the distance with each other or anyone else. After the pair split, Chloe quickly married and divorced both Lucas Horton and Dr. Daniel Jonas, while Brady had his own short marriage with Theresa Donovan. Despite the ups and downs in their relationship, Chloe and Brady still carried love for each other over the years. Let’s take a look back at how their iconic love story began.

Though Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) seem unlucky in love, they appeared to be the perfect pair when they were together. “Days of Our Lives” fans watched the two meet in high school when Chloe befriended Brady’s younger sister, Belle Black (then Kirsten Storms), per Soap Central. Not long afterward, Chloe fell in love with Brady’s uncle, Philip Kiriakis (then Jay Kenneth Johnson). However, teenage drama got in the way of their relationship, and the couple split up. Chloe and Brady grew closer during this time, and he eventually confessed his love to her. Unfortunately, Chloe was torn between her love for Philip and her newfound feelings for Brady, and a love triangle formed between the three.

While trying to figure out her love life, Chloe was diagnosed with leukemia. While battling her health issues, she discovered Philip had been scheming to destroy her friendship with Brady. Chloe called it quits with Philip for good and began to lean on Brady more. After receiving a bone marrow transplant, Chloe went into remission and began to pursue her dream of being a singer (via Soaps in Depth). Later, she and Brady tied the knot and moved to Vienna together so that Chloe could try to make a career for herself.

In 2007, Chloe Lane returned to Salem without her husband, Brady Black, by her side. “Days of Our Lives” viewers quickly learned that Chloe had left Brady after he developed an addiction to drugs in Vienna (via Soaps in Depth). After finding out about Brady’s substance abuse issues, his grandfather Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), forced him into rehab, and he came home to Salem a year later clean and sober. Chloe and Brady agreed to remain friends, although their marriage was over.

Brady then moved on to date women like Nicole Walker, Arianna Hernandez, and Madison James before moving on to Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley). Theresa and Brady’s relationship was full of drama, and they eventually ended things after welcoming their son, Tate. Brady eventually fell for Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), with whom he shares his daughter Rachel. After calling it quits with Brady, Chloe rekindled her romance with Philip Kiriakis and later moved on to tie the knot with Lucas Horton and Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian), per Soap Central. Chloe and Daniel tied the knot and welcomed a son named Parker. However, their marriage was short-lived. Following her divorces from Lucas and Daniel, Chloe had flings with Deimos Kiriakis and Stefan DiMera (via Soaps). However, her love for Brady was still there.

In 2020, “Days of Our Lives” fans watched Chloe’s love triangle with Philip and Brady return when she began dating Philip again but working closely with Brady at Basic Black, per Soaps in Depth. The two men fought over Chloe’s love and attention, and eventually, Philip became so jealous that he faked his own murder and framed Brady for the crime (via TV Season Spoilers). After Philip’s plan was exposed, Brady’s name was cleared, and he and Chloe were free to move on together. The couple began dating and quickly fell right back in love with one another.

However, Brady’s ex-girlfriend, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), couldn’t let the couple be happy. After Chloe helped Brady win custody of his daughter Rachel, things took a dramatic turn. Kristen blackmailed Brady into letting her move in with him and Rachel and forced him to break up with Chloe (via Soap Hub). In return, Kristen ensured that Marlena Evans, Kate Roberts, and Kayla Brady would continue to receive life-saving medical treatment. Only time will tell if Brady and Chloe can make their way back to each other, but fans are rooting for them to get their happy ending.
